Louisville Voter Education & Youth Development and Brushfork M. B. Church co-host a Black History Program. Our theme was “Honor our Past, Celebrate Our Present, Educate and Inspire Our Future.” (Romans 10:12) We open up with the Nation Negro Hymn (Lift Every Voice and Sing). This program highlighted the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans in our history and culture. It reminded us that African Americans have come so far, yet we still have a long road ahead for full equality and injustice. Youths participated with a variety of readings about famous black Americans such as politics, science, sports, religion, art, and the military. There were some solos of significant meaning. We were also informed on blacks in the bible, which was something that very educational in our history by Sis. Glenda Pryor. We were encouraged and challenged by a great message based on our theme provided by Evangelist Smith. Always remember that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and you really work hard. The delicious food was provided by Mrs. Aline Haynes and Staff. We ended with good fellowship, food and full of knowledge.
